Brentwood based Baker Labels has donated a total of £20,000 to eight national and local charities as part of its CSR initiative.

Steve Baker, managing director at Baker Labels, said: “As we all know, charity donations dry up in tougher times and I believe we have a duty to support charities even more during these times.

“We should all be proud that as a company we are able to offer support.”

Three of these charities - children’s support charity SNAP (Special Needs And Parents), mental health and trauma recovery charity Kids Inspire, and Brentwood Foodbank - were chosen by Baker Labels, receiving £5,000, £5,000 and £3,000 respectively.

Julie Bowler, who volunteers at Brentwood Foodbank, said: “We would like to say a heartfelt and huge thank you for the donation.

“[Baker Labels’] continued support is so appreciated, and I know that those who receive the food are so grateful at this difficult time. It is [thanks to] the kindness and generosity of people like yourselves that we can meet and assist those who are struggling.”

Baker Labels’ 112 staff then nominated the other five charities: Farleigh Hospice, childrens’ hospital entertainers POD, veteran’s charity Help for Heroes, Brentwood Theatre, and Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary, which each received between £500 and £2,000.

Help for Heroes’ area fundraising manager, John Carpenter, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Baker Labels who voted for this donation to be made to Help for Heroes.

“In the Essex area we have provided swimming, walking, wheelchair rugby, model making, water sports, singing in a choir, photography, cookery, and there is even more planned. The donation helps us deliver support to veterans in the community, where they need it most.”

Staff at Baker Labels have also been raising money for various causes on fundraising platform JustGiving, with a team set to tackle the National Three Peaks Challenge in early September, where entrants climb the three highest mountains in England, Wales, and Scotland over two days.

Baker Labels specialises in self-adhesive labels and also manufactures packaging and athlete identification goods like bibs and wristbands.
