Your Print Solution invests in Morgana PUR binding

Digital printer Your Print Solution has invested around £25,000 in a Morgana DigiBook 200 PUR binder, which will enable it to offer short-run PUR binding work to customers.

The device represents the first venture into PUR binding for the company and will allow it to move into the short-run digital photobook market as well as expanding trade binding.

Your Print Solution managing director Steven Brown said: “We had looked at hotmelt binding as a solution, but the latest range of Morgana’s PUR machines really impressed us with the quality of bind produced and the range of materials that it could handle.

“We had been using a short-run fast-bind solution previously, working with EVA glue, but we were finding this unsuitable for larger publications and certainly troublesome for digitally produced pages on certain stocks.

“PUR seems to be able to cope with just about anything we need to bind, delivering a solid, reliable finished publication.

“Nobody around here offers short-run PUR so we thought it would be fantastic if we could offer that.”

The firm’s typical binding work can include anything from runs of one through to 200 copies or more. The DigiBook 200 handles spine lengths from 110mm to 320mm and a maximum thickness of 50mm, and was installed at one of the High Wycombe-based firm’s two 418sqm units around three weeks ago.

“During this first few weeks of operation with the DigiBook 200 our team has been able to test out the product on a wide variety of work, including a run of brochures consisting of 300 copies. Production has been fast and the strength of bind is fantastic,” said Brown.

“This new machine will help us move into the short-run digital photobook market, where the B2B sector will be in sharp focus for us. We are also intending to expand our trade binding services.”

The business also operates an HP Indigo 7000 and an HP Designjet L26500 wide-format printer as well as a Morgana DigiFold machine and a range of other finishing kit including bookletmaking, folding, case-bound book production and wire-binding.

Your Print Solution has 17 staff and a turnover of around £1.6m, which Brown said has continued to steadily grow over the past few years. Its customers include Wimpy, Twentieth Century Fox, Euro Car Parts and YMCA as well as agencies and end-users.
