MailaDoc invests in 10th Xerox machine in further bid for expansion

Somerset-based mailing house MailaDoc has invested in a five-colour Xerox iGen 5 digital press, to further expand its digital print offering.

MailaDoc commercial director Nevil Horne said the Xerox was installed last week after the deal was signed at Drupa.

Horne said: “We had been looking at other machines but we always come back to Xerox because we get a good deal and good service from them. It’s all about relationships at the end of the day and we have a very good relationship with Xerox themselves."

The machine joins nine other Xerox printers already housed in MailaDoc’s 1,100sqm- premises. It runs at up to 150ppm and takes media of up to 364x660mm. Horne said he was also pleased with the 2,400dpi resolution offered by the press.

He added: “The fact that it is a proper production machine means we can run all sorts of stocks on it at the same speed. The smaller size and versatility gives us more flexibility in what we do here.”

MailaDoc has been expanding rapidly since it opened its doors in 2009. Its turnover is currently £4m but Horne said it is aiming to reach £6m to £7m within the next 18 months or so.

He added: “We’re not really printers, we’re a solutions company, so we offer clients solutions to their mailing and printing problems. That’s why we’ve done so well. We’re a mailing house, that is our core business, but we have also found several sectors where we add real value and make life easy for our clients at the same time.”

MailaDoc works with clients in the retail, local government, sport and charity sectors.

Its turnover has doubled in the past 20 months and it has taken on eight more staff in the last year, bringing its total up to 20 staff.
