Fujifilm virtual event: a taste of “the printing factory of the near future”

Fujifilm is set to reveal its new brand for toner-based digital presses following its split with Xerox – along with a raft of new inkjet products – at its own virtual exhibition later this week.

The Fujifilm Virtual Exhibition 2021 runs from 24 June – 9 July, with the theme of “Believing in Print”.

It involves a 3D event space that aims to give visitors a taste of “the printing factory of the near future”, with different zones featuring offset printing, digital printing with toner and inkjet, packaging printing, workflow, large-format industrial printing and an inkjet technology showcase.

The global event has been put together by Fujifilm and Fujifilm Business innovation, the former Fuji Xerox business.

Fujifilm will unveil its new ‘Revoria’ branding for the Versant and Iridesse products that it will now sell in other worldwide markets outside Asia Pacific, as a result of the ending of the near-60-year joint venture.

The manufacturer said the virtual expo would include “a new print on demand system renewed under the Fujifilm brand”, with further details to follow.

It posted a teaser video today (22 June).

Fujifilm is also entering the digital flexible packaging market with a new web-fed Jet Press using water-based inks.

The Jet Press FP790 is understood to be a development of the Eucon technology demo shown at Drupa 2016, and builds upon the experience gained in Japan from its UV inkjet Jet Press 540WV.

It has a web width of 790mm and runs at 50m/min, printing CMYK at 1,200x1,200dpi.

“Using its unique expertise and history in digital imaging and inkjet head development, combined with its knowledge of materials, inks and coatings, will allow Fujifilm to offer packaging converters an exceptional opportunity to enter into a new digital platform,” the firm stated.

Also new is a modular inkjet imprinting system, X-Bar, that can be fitted to conventional presses and finishing lines. It is available in 4in and 9in widths and uses Fujifilm Dimatix 1,200dpi print heads. Maximum print speed is 300m/min.

The X-Bar is available via Fujifilm’s Integrated Inkjet Solutions business, which is being expanded globally as the group brings its expertise to the commercial, speciality packaging, industrial and manufacturing sectors.

There’s also a new version of the 42K Printbar (previously the Samba 42000 Printbar System) single-pass mono inkjet system for transactional and direct mail printing.

The recently-announced Acuity range is also part of the show.
