While the system examines the whole of a print job, its primary function is to identify bad nozzles during the printing process.
Upon detection of a malfunctioning nozzle, it identifies the nozzle’s location and colour. Communicating this information to the printer software, which compensates immediately for the deficient nozzle.
Durst marketing specialist for labels and flexible packaging, Ivan Angerer, told Printweek: “In essence, Hawk Eye’s functionality encompasses inspection, detection and correction simultaneously, marking a truly groundbreaking innovation.
“Additionally, Hawk Eye takes on the task of meticulously regulating the entire register of the press. All these capabilities work cohesively to minimise waste, streamline maintenance and setup procedures and enhance the operator's overall experience.”
While on display at LabelExpo for the first time, the Hawk Eye package will not be available to printers until 2024.
The same event, however, will see Durst launch to market a new ink set for its new Tau RSC LED inkset.
Comprising CMYK, orange, violet, green and white, the inkset is designed to set with a lower energy requirement than existing inks, while providing vivid colours.
Durst’s Tau 510 RSCi high speed single-pass press will be on show at the event, which runs 11-14 September in Brussels.
