Focus unveils inkjet hybrid Reflex

Focus Label Machinery has revealed a new hybrid label press at drupa (Hall 10, stand E61) that integrates inkjet heads with its Reflex converting line.

The d-Flex digital inkjet system uses Konica Minolta Colourprint drop-on-demand heads from Industrial Inkjet, for inkjet printing of up to four colours plus white. It can be integrated with conventional flexo printing units and options, including UV varnish, die-cutting, lamination and cold foiling.

David Lee, managing director of UK-based Focus, said: "The narrow web label industry is looking for equipment capable of short runs, but these customers don’t have the volumes to justify huge investments, so the important thing is finding an affordable solution."

The line being shown at drupa is 142mm wide, and up to 330mm is possible. When not in use the inkjet heads simply slide away.

Lee said the d-Flex line was available immediately and would cost around €245,000 (£200,000).
