Managing director Tim Vernon began Brio after winning a contract to design, print and distribute a trade magazine for the direct selling Industry, which resulted in something of a specialism in the requirements of that sector.

Where are you based?

Brio is based in Northampton, which is quite a good place for businesses to thrive. ‘Most Enterprising Place 2012’ and Experian rated it top performing town in the country for business this year. And we still make the best shoes in the world!

How many staff do you have?

Just myself and one part-time employee

What does your firm do? 

We have developed a lot and provide graphic design, branding, website design and management, print management, promotional items, branded clothing and photography

What’s your typical customer?

Someone who wants something far too quickly and could save money if they planned ahead. We then work with them on the next job to make sure they do plan ahead. Sometimes they take heed

Which areas do you serve?

We are national but deliver to Europe on occasion for UK customers

Which markets do you serve?

Our largest customer base is within the direct selling industry

What’s your USP?

A very bespoke and personal service. I like to work as if I were an employee rather than a supplier, then I know I am doing my job properly

What has been your proudest achievement in the past few years?

Developing the business into new areas I never imagined when I started. All businesses need to review what they are doing and make decisions on new opportunities and implement them

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?

Don’t I get to retire with a fortune and live in luxury in five years’ time?
