Star product: Shuttleworth digital dashboard

The Shuttleworth digital dashboard, a component of the Northampton-based firm's eponymous MIS, provides real-time production data through a sidebar on a user's desktop.

The dashboard operates independ-ently of the main MIS, so printers can access production data remotely via the internet. Real-time JMF data is fed into a widget in Microsoft Vista, which displays a summary of key business information.

By bringing real-time data to managers’ desktops, they can react immediately to problems as they happen, said Paul Deane, joint managing director at Shuttleworth Business Systems.

The dashboard allows users to monitor at a glance which presses are running and what jobs are being provided, reports operating speeds and compares them against the estimated speed.

User-specific data alerts can be programmed into the system, and a warning message will be sent, for example via sound alerts or email, if any problems arise.
