Roland DG introduces wave of new Eco inks

Roland DG has launched EUV4 Eco-UV ink, developed specifically for use with its VersaUV UV-LED inkjet printers, and Eco-Sol Max 3, a new generation ink for use with its eco-solvent printer-cutter range.

The EUV4 Eco-UV ink, which is available from the end of October, is cured by exposure to UV light.

The manufacturer said this enables VersaUV users to print "brilliant" colour on a wide variety of materials including paper, film and leather and rigid materials such as polyester, ABS and acrylic.

The company said this makes it suitable for decorating labels and decals, packaging materials and personalised consumer products such as smartphone cases. Furthermore, the addition of clear ink produces unique textures and simulated embossing effects.

The ink features a change in chemistry that reduces odour and the shrinking of thin film materials like BOPP, PE and PET when curing.

EUV4 Eco-UV ink is available in 500ml cartridges of CMYK and Gloss for the LEJ-640 flatbed and LEC-540/330/300A/300 range of printer-cutters.

The ink is also available in 220ml cartridges of CMYK, White and Gloss for the LEJ-640 flatbed and LEC-540/330/300A/300 printer-cutters as well as the LEF-20/12 benchtop flatbed printers. 500ml cartridges cost £94.99 each while 220ml cartridges cost £54.99 each.

Roland DG division president of digital printing, market development Yuko Maeda said the larger size accommodates fewer ink cartridge replacements and added the price is more economical, which allows for a reduction in running costs on compatible machines.

Separately, Roland DG has also announced the launch of Eco-Sol Max 3 ink, for use with its range of eco-solvent printer-cutters.

The manufacturer said the ink delivers faster drying times, larger capacity cartridges, a lower price per ml of ink and an overall performance upgrade.

The ink is available in 500ml in cartridges of CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and light black and 220ml in cartridges of CMYK. 500ml cartridges cost £75.99 each while 220ml cartridges cost £60.99 each.

Roland DG EMEA president Jerry Davies said: “We are proud that we continue to provide another compelling reason to remain loyal to Eco-Sol Max inks.

“As well as the new benefits of the ink, Eco-Sol Max 3 continues to offer the reliability, quality, consistency and durability that customers over many years have always relied upon.”

Eco-Sol Max 3 has received Greenguard Gold Certification, making it safe and acceptable for use in environments such as schools and hospitals.
