Prints on objects up to 150mm thick

Mutoh A1+ printer takes centre stage at Fespa

Mutoh (1-B40) is highlighting its XpertJet 1462UF A1+ format printer, which was previewed at last year’s Fespa Global Print Expo in Munich but has since become commercially available.

The six-colour (CMYK plus white and varnish) LED-UV flatbed with a mobile gantry has a 1,420x700mm table and can print on objects up to 150mm thick.

The device’s printing table incorporates a four-zone vacuum bed, supporting media of up to 50kg/sqm and allowing high flexibility in media selection and the assembly of customised templates.

Well suited to the 700x1,000mm screen printing format, Mutoh said the device would “dramatically increase” the productivity of two-way multi-layer printing for a raft of applications, including 2.5D direct-to-object printing, industrial, packaging, awards, and value-added rigid displays, including ADA-compliant braille.

The XpertJet 1462UF has joined the XpertJet 461UF (A3+) and 661UF (A2+) models from Mutoh. In addition to a larger print table, the XpertJet 1462UF is equipped with two offset print heads and two new 4-inch UV lamps to increase productivity.

The printer is controlled by VerteLith RIP software, which includes relief printing presets and a library of structures with 100 different texture patterns.

Mutoh EMEA marketing manager Nick Decock told Printweek: “This is suited to objects like tin cans, wood, pre-stretched canvasses, and all those types of substrates that cannot be printed by a regular flatbed printer.

“We’ve seen a very good reception to this printer, from companies that produce a wide range of gadgets, as well as people doing dedicated signage like braille prints.”

Mutoh is also showing its XpertJet SR Pro sign and display printers, the XpertJet 1641SR Pro and XpertJet 1682SR Pro models.

Fespa Global Print Expo runs until Friday (22 March) at the RAI in Amsterdam.
