The new system is designed with an independent continuous feeder that can handle regular and irregularly shaped objects and can work in-line with an existing feeder. It can run up to four tape heads, featuring built-in registration, controller and linear motion sensor. It also features a heavy-duty reinforced frame with a compact footprint.

Available priced at $25,000 (around £18,500), the MollTi was recommended for offset and digital printing companies by vice-president of sales Kevin Moll.

"Print 17 was very good," he said. "We wrote a number of orders and continue to follow up on more people planning on bringing their stock to our headquarters in Philadelphia.

"We sold six MollTi machines at the show and have more than 20 other customers sending samples currently."

The new MollTi is useful for applying tape to table and shelf talkers, wobblers, posters, signage and other printed pieces, according to Moll International director Darren Vernon. It was showcased at Print 17 alongside the digi-mollPAK folder-gluer, an in-line compact system incorporating open format design for quick changeover and a dual-stream capacity.

“The new MollTi Taper System enables printers and packagers to continuously apply double-sided tape with an in-line, self-contained unit that can be changed out in minutes, providing a great deal of flexibility,” said Vernon. “We are looking forward to introducing this new system to our customers in Europe.”

Moll has 42 employees in North America and eight employees at their UK base in Essex. It is now starting a sales and service location in Australia. Selling around 250 machines a year, its main markets are offset, digital, commercial, mailhouses, and packaging printers.
