Featuring two head carriages and two platens, the printer’s unusual design effectively runs two 3.2m printers backwards and forwards through a single machine.
With each carriage running at up to 75sqm/hr, the machine can thus reach a total output of 150sqm/hr, or print double sided at 75sqm/hr without having to reload or turn over the substrate.
The machine’s unusual design also allows printers to load four 1.6m rolls simultaneously, printing single- or double-sided. The machine is also available in 5.2m.
Scott Clutton, managing director of China Print Supplies, said: “This revolutionary machine offers a fantastic level of efficiency and precision for high-volume print environments. It can perform true double-sided printing across two 1.6m rolls simultaneously, on materials such as banners, flags, and backlits.
"It’s like having two printers in one, thanks to the dual independent print carriages. When not printing double-sided, these carriages allow running two jobs at once on 3.2m and 5.2m widths.”
Clutton added that the printer produces “amazing vivid colours” whether lit or unlit.
He added: “The machine enables effortless day and night printing without needing four layers of ink or white, specifically because of its double-sided printing capability.”
The machine is available in four- or six-colour configurations, with or without white ink, and customers can choose from having one, two, or three rows of Konica Minolta 6pl or 13pl printheads.
"This machine is a door-opener for your business," said Clutton. "Imagine producing flawless double-sided banners with different images on each side, or overcoming the traditional width and colour limitations of film-coated light boxes."
The Hapond UP3321D starts at £114,999, plus VAT, with cover provided for 12 months under CPS’ 12-month UK gold warranty.
The firm, launched last summer by Clutton, installed a new SinoColor Hybrid UV printer at Sheffield-’s LoveYourPrint.com in March.
LoveYourPrint.com’s managing director, Jonathan Hopewell, first saw the 3.2m printer on China Print Supplies’ stand at the Print Show in September 2024.
He said: “For me, it was all about versatility and reliability. I needed a machine that could handle a broad range of applications, and I wanted to work with a supplier I could trust.”
Hopewell added: “Scott demonstrated that this printer could handle loads of different applications and printing needs and showed me how it could significantly expand our service offerings.
“He was very straightforward, showing me exactly what the printer could do and I felt confident that this was the right printer and partner for us.”
Clutton added: "Our business model is to source products from the Chinese market. We bridge the gap between China and the UK, supplying printers that are pound for pound much better than the established brands.”
