US-based Xitron, which has re-branded to coincide with the new marketing drive, was a major competitor to HighWater and Compose until it downsized its support operations several years ago. It is still the largest supplier of RIP and workflow software products in North America, but is hoping to re-invigorate its sales in the UK via DCAPPS.
DCAPPS director Damon Easto said Xitron specialised in RIPs alone, giving it an edge over its competitors.
"It has always specialised in interfaces and has done a lot of work behind the scenes for all the major manufacturers, including Agfa and Fuji," Easto said.
Xitron supplies Harlequin and Adobe RIP, which Easto said is both flexible and "industrial-strength".
Its products include the RIP Manager, which turns any Harlequin RIP above version 6 into a flexible, drag and drop-based workflow tool.
