Xerox has unveiled a streamlined version of DigiPath, and plans to roll out a full-colour version of the production software by the end of next year.
The DigiPath picture is looking quite pro- mising, and you will start to see various colour elements introduced to the software as it rolls out, said Xerox Solutions UK brand manager David BaldaroThe future of DigiPath is colour, the market wants it and the market will get it..
DigiPath Xpress will provide entry-level digital production printing sup-
port, and can be upgraded to DigiPath professional, which provides more advanced print-on-demand services.
DigiPath Xpress runs
on a Windows NT plat-form and offers a choice between two 600dpi scanners: the 20ppm Xerox DocuImage 620S, or the 65ppm DigiPath Production Scanner.
New releases of DigiPath and VIPP (Variable Information Postscript Printware) workflow software will provide further functionality and integrate the two systems.
Once printers become more accustomed to the digital processes, they can then upgrade to DigiPath Professional, which will provide support for just-in-time printing and customised printing.
The VIPP 2001 upgrade provides new features making personalised documentation production easier, including VIPP Projects, VIPP IDE 2001 and VIPP for Adobe Acrobat.
Xerox said it had sold more than 8,000 DigiPath systems worldwide, while VIPP had over 6,000 active licenses.
