Two Wyndeham Press sites are close to completing the installation of their new web presses.
The first units for Impact Lithos 3m 12pp Heidelberg PrintStream 100L began arriving last week at its Basingstoke site.
Joint managing director John Crouch said the press should be up and running by the middle of June.
The firm hopes to install its Agfa Galileo CTP system around the same time, and it should be operational by late summer.
The revamp will be completed with the installation of a QTMS system.
The PrintStream will be used for 6pp six-colour covers with UV varnishing. We do lots of 6pp covers for business magazines, said Crouch.
ET Heron in Essex hopes to start running paper through its 64pp MAN Roland Lithoman IV web this week.
The installation had gone exceedingly well, said production director Ray Lesnik, who thought the firm would start running test jobs through the press in the next couple of weeks, which is ahead of its original schedule.
Heron ordered the press last December and it, too, has an Agfa Galileo CTP system (PrintWeek, December 2000).
