Working Lunch flags up Cedar recycling plan

Cedar Press was the subject of BBC2s Working Lunch programme, which focused on the Kent-based printers recycling capabilities.

Director Stuart Smith said the programme had been alerted to the printer's money-saving recycling schemes following an article in the local newspaper, the Tunbridge Wells Courier.

"We recycle most of our waste, and where possible use it to benefit charities," said Smith.

The company also recycles its printing plates and chemistry.

As he explained to Working Lunch, the recycling scheme has saved Cedar Press "thousands" over the past year.

"For a small business in a very competitive market, saving money is vital," he said.

When Cedar updates items such as letterheads, it collects outdated stock, and makes them into pads for schools.

The company also saves its postage stamps to donate to charity, and Smith said a new scheme that will launch later in the year would recycle old mobile phones.
