Construction of the 29m (420m yuan) facility started last week, and it is expected to open later this year. According to the report in the Shanghai Daily, the site in the Quingpu District Industrial Zone will "be built to include environmental safeguards and use less energy".

It will also house some of the printing capacity of magazine printer Shanghai Printing Group Company, in which Wenxin is a majority shareholder.

"Weekly publications of our group will be produced at the new site," said Wenxin chief engineer Mei Xiangquin.
