WAM!NET chose Drupa to relaunch itself as an Application Integration Provider (AIP) and has signed a number of new agreements.
The announcement sees it distance itself from its roots as a data transfer firm.
"No once can make money on just delivery; its become a commodity," said European marketing services manager Jeremy Hamilton. "How do we add value? It comes down to outsourcing doing things the customer is perfectly capable of doing but it removes the need for capital investment and the risk of backing the wrong technology."
The move follows the firm opening itself up to the Internet allowing users to connect to the WAM!NET portal by any means. "It doesnt matter how you get to us," said Hamilton.
Applications and services, which the firm has recently signed up include RTImages (a fellow Scitex company of WAM!NETs arch rival Vio) Real Time Proof and Real Time View remote proofing and streaming and Heidelberg Da Vinci file conversion and trapping.
The moves are part of the firms plans roll itself out as a service company at Seybold, when the Project Silo endeavour is formally launched as Workspace, which is designed to allow on-line collaborative workflow.
