Agfa donated the kit after Wallis linked up with the Colleges head of pre-press and printing David Gardner. They successfully lobbied Agfas Graphic systems director Laurence Roberts for the Sherpa Colour Proofing Package, which will be installed in February.
It replaces the Colleges film based analogue processor and imagesetter. The old equipment will still be used to teach its 160 graphic arts and printing students conventional planning and imposition techniques.
The new equipment will provide students with an insight into one of the most important areas of pre-press, said Gardner.
