Launched at Drupa the system collects data at all stages of the production chain and allows digital printers to gauge workflow.

Apartmedia managing director Baden Coleman said that four print companies in Germany were using the browser-based tracking tool. Coleman said ProjectTrac was aimed at small- to medium-sized digital firms.

The system can save both time and money, by providing historical and real-time data reports, resulting in less wastage and better use of company resources.

Remote locations can also access data and collaborate on jobs at the same time. No UK printers are using the workflow tool at present, but Coleman said he was hopeful that interest in the product would lead to take-up across Europe.
