Three new tenders of interest to election printing specialists, magazine printers and paper suppliers, are now live.

Firstly, Colchester City Council is seeking to appoint “a specialist electoral printer with a proven track record in printing and delivering both election and electoral registration printing”.

Worth £100,000 to £500,000, the tender will close at 12pm on 2 October 2023 and start on 4 December 2023. The end date is 30 November 2026.

While the initial term of this contract is for three years, the council said that at its discretion, and subject to performance, the contract may be extended for up to a further three years, a year at a time.

Additional information on how to apply for this contract, and contact details for the buyer, are available on the government’s Contracts Finder service.

Burgess Hill Town Council, meanwhile, has launched a tender to produce and print its About Town magazine, for a three year contract to run from 1 March 2024 to 30 November 2027.

The awarded supplier will be tasked with printing nine issues of the title on a four-monthly basis, in March, July, and November.

The tender stated the specifications for the publication: “Printing Requirements: currently 15,000 copies – 198x210mm landscape folded, stitch two wires, trim and pack. The number of copies increases slightly each issue, so include the cost of printing extra copies (per 20).

“20pp text on 100gsm gloss plus a 4pp cover on 130gsm gloss, in full colour. To include setting and scans.”

Further instructions on production and delivery were also provided on the tender’s page on the Contracts Finder service, which states that the value of the contract is £34,000. The tender will close at 12pm on 22 September.

Finally, The Open University requires the supply of coated printing paper and board in 100gsm and 300gsm weights in varying sheet and reel sizes, delivered to contracted print suppliers, for book production.

Both the paper and board must be certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). The contract will be for three years with a possible 12-month extension to a total length not exceeding four years.

Worth £1m to £3m, this tender will close on 21 September 2023 at 12pm. The contract will then begin on 18 December 2023 and end on 17 December 2026.
