Print and paper advocacy group Two Sides has welcomed a trio of new members – CPI, the Sheet Plant Association, and Greener Mail.

Trade association CPI, which represents the UK’s paper-based industries, will join as a formal member to better collaborate and collectively tell the sustainable story of paper products.

CPI aims to enhance the competitiveness of the UK paper-based industries by advocating an appropriate legislative and regulatory regime in the UK, EU and globally, and also by sharing best practice within the CPI membership.

“We have worked with Two Sides for many years supporting their mission, objectives, and achievements. CPI is pleased to take this further, formally supporting the campaign by becoming a member and working more collaboratively,” said Andy Barnetson, executive director – competitiveness at CPI.

“This will help us communicate more widely the sustainability of our industry to our members and, in turn, their customers.”

By joining Two Sides, CPI will help develop an increasing library of co-brandable fact-based communications tools, consumer research, industry information, and sustainability advice.

“Welcoming new members on board is always a pleasure. Our partnership with CPI shows better joined-up thinking and collaboration for the paper-based industries and how we must all communicate the facts that our products are made from natural, renewable, and recyclable materials,” said Ian Bates, European marketing and partnership director of Two Sides.

Another joining trade association, the Sheet Plant Association (SPA), promotes the interests of the corrugated sheet plant sector.

The SPA co-ordinates and pursues matters affecting the corrugated packaging industry, the sheet plant sector, and the wider paper industry. It co-operates with associations with similar aims and objectives, in the UK, as well as Europe and the US.

“The SPA is delighted to become a member and support Two Sides. We provide a forum for members involved in the corrugated cardboard sheet plant industry to meet and discuss matters of common interest in the sector. One important topic on our minds is sustainability,” said Tim Gray, chairman of the UK Sheet Plant Association.

“We want our customers, brands and retailers to be aware of the sustainable attributes of our products and that our industry is committed to be part of the circular economy. Our partnership with Two Sides will allow us to use a variety of facts and stats to help us do just that.”

The SPA will also now have access to Two Sides’ aforementioned resources and research, as will the third new member, B2B direct mail, leaflet distributor, and printer Greener Mail.

The Brighouse-based business already holds the environmental standard ISO 14001, uses Carbon Balanced Paper, offsets emissions with World Land Trust, and has committed to the SME Climate Pledge.

“Sustainability and being ‘greener’ is at the forefront of our company ethos and we are constantly thinking of ways that we can improve our own business. Greener Mail is continuously investing in our buildings and machinery to reduce carbon emissions and the energy we use, where a simple upgrade can make a profound difference,” said Andrew Robinson, head of sales and marketing at Greener Mail.

“As an environmentally focused business, partnering with Two Sides is a natural step in our sustainable journey.”
