Tame: "It remains vital that these misleading messages are challenged"
Tame: pleased to welcome new members

Two Sides has been joined by two more new members.

The European Converted Paper Association (ECPA), an interest group representing the paper industry, and Visitor International, the international association of visitor information providers, are the latest additions to the print and paper advocacy group’s member base.

ECPA is the collective voice of the converted paper industry in Europe and represents a diverse network of manufacturers and suppliers dedicated to supporting business with “high-quality functional paper solutions”.

The association advocates for the benefits of paper receipts, which it said are essential for ensuring accurate pricing, clear record-keeping, and compliance with consumer rights legislation.

“As an association, we aim to unite industry stakeholders under a common mission: to promote the value of paper receipts as indispensable tools for transparency, security, sustainability and consumer confidence,” said Marcel Bergmann, president of ECPA.

“Paper receipts can have a lower CO2 impact over their lifecycle than digital alternatives, depending on factors such as the resources used to produce digital devices and direct energy consumption through the use of data centres and servers that contribute to carbon emissions.”

Paper receipts are based on a renewable raw material grown in Europe and are manufactured by European producers who are investing in innovations to reduce carbon footprint, develop phenol-free receipt papers, improve responsible use of water, and increase energy efficiency.

Jonathan Tame, managing director for Two Sides Europe, said: “We’re pleased to welcome ECPA as a member of Two Sides. Together, we can amplify the positive environmental story of paper receipts – a renewable, recyclable and essential material.

“By joining forces, we strengthen our voices in promoting the sustainable attributes of paper across Europe and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Visitor International’s global member companies specialise in providing visitor information to guide travellers in-destination.

It primarily distributes printed brochures, maps, and guides on behalf of its clients to influence trip-takers and drive business to them. Many also produce their own visitor guides.

“The members of Visitor International view print on paper as a powerful and effective means of communication,” said John Rice, president of Visitor International.

“Visitor brochures are a trusted and tangible source of information that visitors actively seek out. Not only do they drive engagement and influence decision-making, but they are also a sustainable choice.

“Printed visitor brochures are recyclable, biodegradable, and produced using paper sourced from responsibly managed forests.

“Our members are committed to responsible print management – ensuring materials are well-maintained, distributing efficiently to reduce waste, and recycling outdated brochures.

“The environmental credentials of print, combined with its proven effectiveness in visitor engagement, make it a vital tool for tourism businesses worldwide. We are pleased to become a member of Two Sides and look forward to promoting the sustainable story of printed visitor information.”

Josh Birch, campaign manager of Two Sides UK, said: “Visitor International’s capability to reach millions of people every year around the world, via printed information brochures, is a great way to help spread the positive sustainable story that print and paper has to tell to consumers.”

By joining Two Sides, the two businesses will now have access to a large library of co-brandable communications tools, consumer research, industry information, sustainability advice, and events.
