WAM!NET has launched Transmission Director its replacement for 4-Sight Artwork Delivery System (ADS).
The new PostScript and PDF compatible digital file transport software application is aimed primarily at the newspaper advertising market. It was previously known as Project Apollo.
Transmission Director builds upon many of the features of ADS adding support for PDF and further workflow automation features. Product manager Mark Hersey said: "Transmission Director has advanced features which enables it to combine ADS and PDF file handling."
The system allows publishers to create Smart Job Tickets, which specify the criteria of different publications for file format, resolution and colour space. Hersey said: "It means that neither the sender or the receiver wastes time because the files that cause problems dont go through."
Joe OKeefe, advertising production manager for Independent Newspapers Ireland, which tested the software, said: "The Smart Job Ticket option gives us complete control as to how ads are delivered. It gives us the facility to send a locked job ticket to agencies which includes our validation criteria. The job ticket is then permanently associated with all adverts being sent to us."
