Three ex-Sun Chemical staff set up inks firm

Three former Sun Chemical employees, including former Sun Chemical Gibbon managing director Graham Frost, have set up their own inks and coatings venture, Inks Coating European (ICE).

Frost, who is chairman of the new company, partnered with former Sun Chemical regional sales directors Nick Frost, his son, and John Allanson, now joint managing directors of ICE.

The east London-based firm, which began trading last November, has been working with direct mail specialist Anton Group and PoS and retail printer Augustus Martin from the outset.

Nick Frost said: “We’re on the verge of signing what will hopefully be a two-year deal with Anton Group. We based our targets on an initial turnover of £1.2m, but I think we’re going to do significantly more than that.”

ICE supplies sheetfed, digital and screen inks, coatings and consumables for medium to large printers. The company sources the bulk of its supplies from Druckfarben, the official distributor for Japanese Toyo Printing Ink.
