Thomas Potts has spun off its book production services division, Cambridge Pub-lishing Management (CPM), to operate as an independent subsidiary.
The move "formalises a situation that has been the case for some time", said Jackie Dobbyne, who has been promoted to managing director from publishing manager.
Former managing direct-or Tim Egan, who had been gradually moving into a back-seat role at CPM for the past year, will concentrate his efforts on Potts G&E 2000 site.
Ac-cord-ing to Dobbyne, Egan told her and publishing director Julia Mor-ris "youre doing the job so we ought to acknowledge that youre doing the job".
CPM provides a range of services, from author management to pre-media repro. It grew from the former Goodfellow & Egan and was acquired by Potts in 1999.
