The Sherwood Group has taken on a returning former manager as its new sales and marketing director.

Richard Hall, who previously served as national account manager at the Nottingham-based packaging printer from 2012 to 2015, returned to the company last month.

During his tenure at The Sherwood Group in his earlier career, the company said Hall played a pivotal role in expanding its client base and market reach.

Over the past eight years, he subsequently took on various roles in the packaging and printing industry, including at Coveris UK, Mondi Group and, most recently, as European key account manager at Saica Flex, where he gained insights into the complexities of operating across numerous countries and coordinating with multiple sites.

“I am delighted to be returning to The Sherwood Group, a company that I hold in high regards for its dedication to excellence and commitment to serving its clients,” said Hall.

“There are some opportunities that feel right, and you just don’t question your instinct. It doesn’t happen often, but after talking to Sherwood’s directors, it did.

“I look forward to promoting the development of the company’s brands, both in the UK and China, and [the] opportunity to work in a long-term development plan with a business I respect and trust is even more appealing.”

Richard Bacon, managing director of The Sherwood Group, added: “I am delighted that Richard has rejoined the company after eight years. I vividly remember our first meeting back in 2012, and it was evident then that Richard possessed exceptional skills and a genuine passion for the industry.

“His vast amount of experience, personal approach, and strong work ethics align perfectly with The Sherwood Group’s values, and I have no doubt that his new role as sales and marketing director will be a great success, both for him and for the company.

“I wish him all the best in his new senior management position, and I am confident that his contributions will play a significant role in our continued success.”

Last year, The Sherwood Group invested £2m on finishing kit for its Nottingham manufacturing plant.
