Thanet Press becomes 'more competitive' after miniature folder buy

Margate-based printer Thanet Press has said that it can now offer more competitive prices for pharmaceutical print, following the installation of a miniature folder from Friedheim.

The general printer has installed a Herzog+Heymann KL112 8/4 – its fifth miniature folding machine.

Thanet has also completed the building of a controlled environment in its facility, for which it received funding from the South East England Development Agency, allowing it to handle all pharmaceutical finishing.

Michael Ford, production coordinator at Thanet Press, said: "This allows us to keep more work in-house, as before the really small work had to go out. We are now more competitive."

Thanet Press was formerly owned by the Baird Group, but was sold to Graham Cummings Group earlier this year. Thanet Press has a turnover of £6.5m and employs 85 staff.

The Herzog+Heymann KL112 comes with up to 14 buckle plates and is designed primarily for small folded and glued information material and the pharmaceutical instruction leaflets in lightweight paper markets.
