Technoprint completes William Sessions commercial division purchase

Leeds printer Technoprint has purchased the commercial division of William Sessions, which traded as Sessions of York, saving three jobs.

Managing director Mark Snee will combine the business with his York facility, which trades as Barringtons of York.

Sessions went into administration on 21 April 2010, with the label division, which made up the bulk of the company, sold to Paragon Print and Packaging a week later.

The commercial division, which includes a 4-colour Heidelberg DI press, will remain at the Sessions site in Huntington for the immediate future.

Snee said: "We want to bring the two sites together, but our Barringtons site is not big enough to take it. The problem in York at the moment is there isn't much available industrial property.

"This is about saving local jobs. All of the staff at both Barringtons and Sessions are based in Huntingdon itself so we are keeping employment local. Ultimately I think we can be a key player in the York commercial market as well as the more niche fragranced market."

The York business will initially have eight full-time staff, although Snee intends to reemploy some former Sessions staff.

Barringtons specialises in fragranced printing, which the commercial division of Sessions also handled. It also produced magazines, books and security products.

Snee added: "I would like to thank Mark Sessions for his help during this time. It must have been a desperately sad time for him and his family but despite that he has been a great help."
