Surrey & Berkshire Newspapers, part of The Guardian Media Group, has installed Agfas IntelliNet Newsflow and IntelliTune image processing software, prior to a dual Polaris CTP installation.
Agfa newspaper marketing manager John Buckingham said the IntelliNet software had been installed in 12-15 newspaper sites, including part of the Trinity Mirror group and one or two Northcliffe sites.
Buckingham also said version 2.0 of the software would be launched in March, and that discussions to put the software in place at other newspaper sites were in progress.
The IntelliNet installation will enable the quick integration of PostScript and TIFF image files, enabling previewing and outputting for editorial-based systems.
As the production plan and transmission function does not impose any conditions on the format of the file, files such as PDFs can be sent to remote receive sites if necessary.
NewsFlow allows a single PC to accept PostScript, convert to a TIFF and send to a recorder. This can be handled by entry-level offering IntelliNet Lite.
Surrey & Berks titles include the Reading Evening Post, Wokingham Times, Surrey Advertiser and Aldershot News.
Dick Owen, production director at Surrey & Berkshire Newspapers, said the quality of pictures produced by IntelliTune was "stunning", with consistent output and quality.
The dual Polaris 150 CTP systems plus VSP 85 on-line processors with Barenshee Vista plate benders will be installed later this month.
All will output to Agfa N91 plates, improving and upgrading conventional platemaking times and processes.
