Start-up Clearview to target client gamut

Large-format trade printer Clearview Press has opened its doors in Hertfordshire with a promise to offer superb service to small clients as well as large.

Managing director John Vinten, previously a salesman at Terry Smith Group, and sales director Danny Tongue, who has done stints in sales at Trumps and Capital Print & Display, have invested 600,000 in the start-up.

The two former Trumps colleagues have fitted a secondhand four-colour MAN Roland 800 with Agfa CTP at the firm's Hoddesdon base.

Tongue said the firm was aiming for a 1.2m turnover in its first year and would target smaller print management firms as well as trade work and direct sales.

"We've spotted a niche in the market where there are a lot of smaller print management companies putting work with the bigger companies. But they get swallowed up and often don't get the service they deserve," he said.

Clearview Press, which has 11 staff, began trading in October and has racked up almost 100,000 in sales within its first month.
"We've hit the ground running," said Tongue.
