Centurfax has extended its range of dotmeters with the launch of the multi-function CCDot4 and FlexoDot handheld devices.
According to the company, the FlexoDot is the only handheld device for measuring the absolute values across all flexo printed media thanks to its proprietary optical surface sensing technique. The unit, which can be used without a light table, offers auto-calibration and is capable of accurate measurements on both capped and metal-backed plates.
The CCDot4 is for offset applications and can read both plates and paper. For the latter application the device will compensate for the substrates absorption properties and any dot halo effects.
The unit offers a number of different calibration options, said Greg Imhoff of North American distributor GRIPdigital. If a user wants to add, say, auto colour sensing then the upgrade can be downloaded from the web. There is also the option to have a fully functioned unit which will operated for a fixed period, after which the user can specify which ones they want to keep.
Output can be stored as a TIFF and is therefore easily distributed via e-mail for remote checking and according to Imhoff, the CCDot4 has been selling especially well to printers using CTP.
