Polestar Watmoughs in Bradford has replaced Barry Smith as managing director with Adrian Rumble, a programme director from UDV, part of United Distillers.
Smith is becoming sector key account director for lifestyle magazines, and will report to sector managing director Bob Caley. Rumble starts his induction next week.
A spokeswoman said: "There is nothing sinister about the change. The board felt Barry was more suited to customer interface. He is very good with customers." He was unavailable for comment.
Rumble, who was head hunted for the post, said: "I was looking for an interesting and new change, the whiskey industry was going through difficult times." His track record includes a post as packaging director for Johnnie Walker from 1996 to 1998."
Three months ago Polestar lured Chris Pavlosky, a managing director, from Scottish Courage to be its chief operating officer on its three-man executive team (PrintWeek 11 February).
