Smith Print Design continues to trade in administration

Gateshead printer Smith Print Design continues to trade in administration more than two weeks after insolvency specialists were appointed.

The company went into administration with KSA Group on 8 June but continues to be traded by the administrator.

KSA Group national director of turnaround and insolvency Eric Walls told PrintWeek yesterday (23 June) that it was continuing to seek buyers for the £2m-turnover 22-staff business.

He said: "There is no change. We continue to seek buyers for the business and the business continues to trade as normal. I wouldn't want to put any timelines on anything or make any predictions – as far as I am concerned a deal is not completed until the money is in the bank."

The ongoing administration of the 180-year-old company is in marked contrast to many print insolvencies, where a pre-pack sale or immediate closure have been the norm.
