The company has talked to an undisclosed number of publishers about setting up remote sites to produce between 3,000 and 6,000 copies for secondary markets.
SDP said its VersaMark Vantage press could produce 1,000 40pp copies per hour, printed on newsprint, with full colour on one side, although colour could be applied to both sides.
Business development director Park Rayfield said: We have done 12 samples. Theyre very interested as most advertisers insist on colour. SDP was seeking a partner to provide finishing equipment, he added.
Oc currently produces newspapers at remote sites on its DemandStream press.
