Yorkshire screen printer Screentec has produced 14,000 cartoon penguins as part of United Co-ops Christmas campaign.
The point-of-sale penguins will feature on all windows as well as on in-store hanging graphics, up to 5ft in size.
The 55-employee company, which has a turnover of around 3m, produced the penguins direct-to-screen using its Lscher JetScreen system.
Screentec sales director Malcolm Smith said: "It eliminates the need for that whole repro stage. We can take either disc or ISDN and produce the first screen within 15 minutes.
"Thats very important for the food industry, which has become more reactive in its promotions."
The Wakefield-based firm, which has a 3,000m2 plant, has developed a partnership with food retailers over a number of years.
Smith said: "Utilising the store database, which contained square footage, ceiling heights and window areas, we were able to allocate the PoS to stores for maximum effectiveness."
