Roland releases Fluor Ink colours

Roland DG has released a new fluorescent ink range for its wide-format Texart dye-sublimation printers suitable for sports and fashion textiles.

The ink, made for its Texart XT-640 and RT-640 kit, was developed specifically for dye-sublimation transfer printing for sportswear, fashion, soft signage, decor and promotional merchandise.

The new inks, fluorescent pink (Fp) and yellow (Fy), can be combined with Roland DG’s Texart process ink colours to produce hundreds of fluorescent hues.

The new inks will be available around mid-July in cyan, magenta, yellow, black, orange, violet, fluorescent pink and fluorescent yellow for the two Texart printers with ErgoSoft Roland Edition software RIP.

Business development manage Mark Elvidge said: “We have seen requests for this type of ink rise due to the growing demand for these colours to be used in fashion and sportswear.

“The fluorescent colours came back into fashion when sports teams or organisations started using them again in their merchandise.

“With a huge year of sport in 2016 many suppliers or designers will be wanting to capitalise on this with their own offerings.”

The ink comes in one-litre foil pouches that fit into the RT-640 and XT-640 ink systems. Pricing is to be confirmed but expected to be similar to other colours in the range, costing around £80 a litre.

Elvidge added: “We have created the ink configuration for both the RT-640 and XT-640, which means we can get a huge colour gamut and brilliant fluorescent colours.

“What sets us apart is we have made it simple to implement these colours into designs by creating the Roland Fluor Color Library.

This contains 375 colours and is compatible with Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw. The Ergosoft Roland Edition RIP software has named colour recognition to simplify the process even further.”

Digital printing division president Yuko Maeda said: “We believe the addition of Fluor Ink will enhance the versatility of our Texart printers.

“It will also greatly expand textile printing possibilities for our users, especially for sports and fashion clothing.”
