Ricoh has acquired Netherlands-based finishing specialist Albyco in a strategic move to expand its production print finishing capabilities across Europe.

The manufacturer revealed the deal in a statement posted on the Ricoh Europe site on Wednesday (3 January).

Albyco specialises in finishing kit for a wide variety of print related products for digital label, signage, and packaging applications. Founded in 1994, it offers its own brand of machines and supplies as well as kit from GMP, Neolt, and Bomco, among others.

Ricoh stated the integration of Albyco’s expertise into its portfolio “enhances the company’s end-to-end print solutions offering, benefiting Ricoh’s production print customers with an extended range of finishing capabilities”.

Albyco customers, meanwhile, will now have access to Ricoh’s comprehensive technology portfolio.

The deal will see Ricoh welcome Albyco’s workforce to the business while its managing director Jos van Uum will remain in his current role and continue to grow Albyco’s business.

“Customers can expect continued support and an expanded range of solutions as Ricoh integrates Albyco’s capabilities into its portfolio,” the business stated.

Alberto Mariani, chief digital investment officer at Ricoh Europe, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Albyco to the Ricoh family.

“Ricoh continues to invest in acquisitions that support our long-term growth and differentiation on the market, continually adding value for our global customer base.”

Eef de Ridder, vice president of Ricoh’s Graphic Communications Group, added: “This exciting acquisition is a move that reinforces our dedication to driving innovation in the print industry, we call it Henkaku, which is the Japanese word for transformational innovation.

“We are seeing growing demand for top tier finishing capabilities in wide-format and inkjet/toner printing at a commercial scale and rising interest from clients seeking end-to-end integrated solutions.

“Albyco’s strong reputation and proven track record in the graphic communications business makes it an excellent addition to the Ricoh family, further strengthening our collective capabilities.”

Albyco’s Jos van Uum said: “We are delighted to join forces with Ricoh and contribute our expertise to a company with a rich tradition of technological advancements and customer-centric solutions.

“This collaboration presents a tremendous opportunity to leverage synergies, drive innovation, and deliver even greater value to our customers. I am pleased that we found in Ricoh the best possible home to support our customers and talented teams in the next phase of their journey.”
