Richard Edward to make Discovery Channel appearance

London's Richard Edward is set to showcase its playing card manufacturing skills to a global audience thanks to an upcoming television appearance.

The Thamesmead-based company has taken part in an edition of the Discovery Channel's popular science programme How do they do it?, which looks at the output of paper mills.

Producers of the show wanted to feature an innovative and interesting use of paper, and picked Richard Edward to explain the processes involved in manufacturing a pack of branded cards especially for the programme.

Richard Edward marketing director Louisa Moger described it as a "fabulous opportunity" to showcase the company's capabilities: "We are so excited to be sharing the passion and skill that goes into the manufacturing processes with such a huge audience," she said.

The firm employs 45 staff and has sales of £6m. It produces more than 40m decks of playing cards a year.

The paper-themed How do they do it? will be broadcast on Friday 29 July in America, and on Wednesday 10 August at 8.30pm in the UK.
