The British designed and built Eclipse 550S is based on the Eclipse 550, which was previously manufactured by AGR prior to Renaddress buying the rights.

The 550S has been given a speed boost to 3,000iph, "and that's true through speed, and not dependent on job type", said project manager Peter Kiddle.

"Its real selling point is that it is without doubt the lowest priced production machine in the market," he added.

The enhanced heatseal machine can handle products from DL up to full A4, as well as single items up to 10mm in thickness.

The PLC controlled line, which can go inline to either vertical or horizontal collators, includes two standard feeders and a hand feeder, and options include print registration, Mailsort, output conveyors and stream feeder.

The firm has already sold the first three Eclipses to unnamed UK users.
