RAF mag contract on tender

The contract to print the Air Forces official newspaper, RAF News, is up for grabs from the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The contract takes effect from June next year and the deadline for interested parties is 8 October. The process is handled by the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO).

"We intend to get best value for money for the MOD although we have not been specific on what type of printer we are looking for," said a DLO spokesman. "It could be that the winning company could sub-contract."

He added that there was a "small possibility" that the selected parties could be involved in a reverse auction to win the contract.

The fortnightly 24pp or higher newspaper is printed on 60gsm newsprint and is in tabloid format with a print run of 22,000. The publication also carries loose advertising.
