Pillans & Wilson is looking to rise from the ashes with the setting up of a direct mail operation.
The company, which was sold to the Ormolu Group last year when it went into receivership, has spent 1m in the setting up of Pillans & Wilson Direct to handle personalised printing and enclosing.
Two Xerox DocuPrint 180s with associated data processing software and two Bell & Howell inserting machines have been bought for the direct mail arm, based at the company's Edinburgh plant.
Former Waddies sales director Alan Yorkston has been taken on as managing director of the new division.
Yorkston said: "Pillans & Willson is moving into direct mail to offer clients a full portfolio of services. Our financial and corporate clients already purchase direct mail and it is our aim to keep that element in-house."
New clients, including direct marketing agencies, will also be pursued.
Six staff have been taken on specifically to deal with P&W Direct's sales and marketing. The company has already achieved DMARC accreditation and membership of the DMA.
Other Ormolu printers - Greenaways Digital in London and Trafford Print in Manchester - will provide back-up to the Edinburgh operation.
