Pillans & Waddies (Manchester) has secured deals with Amec, TNT and Vertex as it concentrates on bigger contracts by making use of web printing capacity at its sister operation in Livingston, according to director Michael Gardner.
The TNT contract includes training manuals and marketing literature, while the firm is producing the Amec Times newsletter as part of its deal with Amec, the multinational engineering group.
We decided to start looking at bigger markets, said Gardner. We tended to be more locally based, but as Pillans & Waddies we can take the very big accounts and put web work up to Scotland and do some sheetfed work at Manchester and Scotland.
We aim to keep the momentum going. We come from a solid commercial background that can only enhance our clients highly regarded reputations.
Nearly 100 guests also recently attended a formal launch of the new identity for the Manchester business, he said.
Last month PrintWeek revealed that Ormolu had decided to restructure its Manchester operations, merging Trafford Press Corporate Finance with Greenaways and Trafford Press Commercial with Pillans & Waddies (PrintWeek, 7 August).
The Trafford Press Corporate Finance head office has now relocated into the centre of Manchester as planned, and the company is in talks with two interested parties about the sale of its Chester Road premises.
