Pureprint takes on staff from failed printer Paterson

Pureprint Group has bolstered its repro and digital print operation by taking on 12 staff that lost their jobs when Paterson Printing went into administration last Thursday (30 May).

Uckfield-based Pureprint has taken on three Mac operators, four digital print staff and several account executives.

Paterson Printing fell last week making 40 staff redundant. Jamie Paterson, chief executive of the Tunbridge Wells-based company, said the loss of a big investment bank client in February, coupled with reduced margins and a drop in orders, was to blame for the closure.

Pureprint also said it is holding talks with Begbies Traynor, the administrator of Paterson Printing, with a view to invest in some server and computer equipment.

Mark Handford, chief executive of Pureprint, said: "We've needed to fill these positions for some time, so it's positive to be able to take on the staff from Paterson Printing."

He added that the group was eyeing acquisitions going forward after ruling out a move for Patersons earlier in the year.

"The staff from Paterson Printing are a good fit. Business is changing rapidly and so are we," said Handford.
