He was tight-lipped on the identity of any potential acquisition or time scale but said that it was an area where there "will be investments".
"There will be an acquisition in that area and we are spending time studying where and how we would make such a move," said Tilanus.
"We need to do this in order to fulfil our growth strategy."
Punch Graphix currently has digital press manufacturer Xeikon and CTP firms Strobbe and basysPrint in its portfolio.
"Being the size that we are means that we can react very fast in the marketplace," said Tilanus.
The company floated on the on the Alternative Investment Market in May this year which, according to Tilanus, was a necessary move to raise capital for future investments. In 2004 Punch Graphix had a turnover of 68.5m (Eu101m).
Punch Graphix bought Strobbe in January 2000, Xeikon in April 2002 and basysPrint in December 2004.

Punch eyes post-press move
Punch Graphix chief executive Dick Tilanus has indicated that the group is set to invest in the post-press digital sector.
