Printmountain has revealed details of its new software product line-up following six months of development.
Now based in Staines, the firm has launched PrintManager, a workflow-based tool aimed primarily at print buyers; PrintPDF, a web-based product for creating, customising, ordering and re-ordering; and a digital asset management product.
"Our earlier products were not commercially viable," said director Tom Kahrl. "We generated more revenue from the first sale of the new applications than in the whole of last year."
Printmountain started life in May 2000 as an online print buying exchange but suspended the service in March when it failed to secure second-round funding (PrintWeek, 9 March).
Restructuring ensued and the firm announced its intention to focus on software. The management agreed an MBO deal and a restructuring of its debt.
The firm has had its "nose to the grindstone", said Kahrl. "We have learned hard lessons and taken care to ensure our products serve real needs."
