Printank has bought finishing in-house with the purchase of a Valore saddlestitcher from Muller Martini. Managing director Naresh Tank said he chose Muller Martini because of its reputation and ease of use.

E Petch Printers has added a Stahlfolder Ti52 buckle folder to its Heidelberg equipment, just months after installing a Printmaster PM 52-2 press and a Polar 92 guillotine. The folder will be installed in November. To house its expanding post-press capabilities the print firm has acquired a new unit.

Mainline Flatpacks has bought a Bobst Alpina Gyrobox folder/gluer, to  to compete with Eastern European and Far Eastern manufacturers. The Huntingdon firm is one of the UK's largest cardboard envelope makers and stockists in Europe.

PrintSoft introduced DeskDirect at last month's Post-Expo show in Paris. The end-to-end mail system is said to be the first of its kind in Europe, offering an efficient and cost-effective way to generate desktop mail. The software allows users to create mail on the desktop that is then electronically submitted to a printing house or production centre for printing and mailing.

Matthew Taylor MP officially opened Bay Mailing's new premises in St Austell on 28 September. The new hand-finishing operation is part of the firm's expansion programme. It is in addition to its existing premises, and will provide jobs for 50 local people. The firm has also added capacity to its lettershop and mailing activities, and has developed a mail-order facility.

Vivid has announced the launch of its next generation of Ikon pouch laminators. Both the Ikon professional office series and Ikon-S commercial range feature Hot Roller technology (HRT). The addition of HRT has provided a number of benefits, and reduced the returns rate for the systems to less than 1%.
