Beardow Adams has appointed Trevor Gallivan to a newly created position, product specialist for bookbinding. Gallivan has over 20 years experience supporting bookbinders. He has previously worked with Croda Adhesives and Sovereign Speciality Chemicals.

TNT Post has had its contract renewed with the Greater London Authority to distribute free newspaper The Londoner. The year-long contract is worth 1.2m and this will be the third-year running that TNT has managed the door-drop distribution of the paper. TNT will distribute 30m copies over the contract period.

Reflections Print Lamination has invested in two new Mitsubishi Fuso Canter vans. The Deptford-based company purchased the vehicles to transport palletised print between its own three satellite plants as well as those of its clients.

Mailwrights Group has installed a Multimaster CAS 52-A continuous folder at its automated mail centre in Nottingham. The purchase, from GBR Systems Corporation, follows the Groups recent acquisition of all ID Mailings plants after the firm fell into liquidation.

Tangent Communications has installed two new machines, supplied by Encore Machinery: a Pit Stop digital creaser and perforator and an MB CAS 38 computer-controlled folder. Fred Davies, finishing manager at Tangent said: "We had a digital creaser which was quite slow and no perforator. Folding had also become a bit of a bottleneck when we were doing jobs with a fast turnaround."

The Encapsulating Company has been handed the BA award for Print Finishing Solutions at London Business Todays Business Achievement Awards Programme. The win coincided with the companys 21st year in business.


Basingstoke-based Printwises installation of a Duplo System 5000 was not part of a 2m investment as reported last week (25 May). The firm, has installed the bookletmaker, Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 and moved to new 200msq premises, but the 2m investment was made by Printwise in Lymington. The completely separate firm invested 2m in a 900msq purpose-built plant and Speedmaster CD 74-5 and a raft of Heidelberg finishing kit earlier this year.
