Polestar Applied appoints new execs ahead of Census dry run

Polestar Applied Solutions, the BPO arm that will spearhead Polestar's involvement in the Lockheed Martin-led 2011 Census delivery consortium, has appointed two new executives ahead of a dry run planned for next year.

The Dunstable, Bedfordshire-based business has appointed former Capita, Bemrose Booth and K2 employee Ian Marshall as implementation manager, responsible for Polestar's role within the £150m Census contract.

Polestar Applied Solutions managing director Tim Smith said: "Obviously, in light of the Census contract award, it is important that we start to build the right team to service this project and I am delighted to welcome Ian, who brings a wealth of production and commercial experience."

Marshall will be based at Polestar Direct's Nottinghamshire site, where he will report to Applied Solutions' print services director Matt Spencer.

Commercial print giant Polestar has also swooped for former Adare Halcyon general manager Phil Teer, who will bring his 25 years of print experience to the role of Polestar Direct general manager.

Smith said: "Phil has an in-depth understanding of the direct and transactional mail and personalisation markets, ideally complementing the focus of our direct mail business. I am very pleased to have him on board."

Teer, who will also be based at the Nottinghamshire site, will have responsibility for the commercial, operational and customer services aspects of the direct mail business and will report directly to Smith.
