Pixart.it adds second Durst Rho 320R as wide-format demand rises

Web-to-print printer pixart.it has ordered a second Durst Rho 320R machine to its expanding arsenal of wide-format kit.

The roll-to-roll UV inkjet plotter will be installed later this year. Its counterpart, installed just six months ago, is already running a three-shift seven-day week, mainly producing 450g/sqm PVC work with a small percentage of PVC mesh.

According pixart.it managing director Matteo Rigamonti, the machine is working 22 hours a day, with a 90% uptime.

"The Rho 320R is an extremely reliable printing system ... We have been using our current machine for six months without ever having to call in the technicians," he said.

The Venice-based company also boasts Durst Rho 700 Pac and 800 grand format presses as well as a fleet of digital kit.

Rigamonti said that the growth in demand for wide-format work has meant that the flatbed division will be moved to a new 3000sqm site by the end of the year.

Pixart.it produces brochures, catalogues and leaflets as well as banners and posters, and labels and packaging solutions for clients across Europe. About 5% is currently ordered from the UK, although this is growing since the launch of it dedicated UK service.

The company employs 80 people and has a turnover of €28m (£24.67m).
